blade sight WIP 2025/07/18 update notes (update 7/21)


EDIT (7/21) - there was a crash relating to the dressers in some circumstances trying to look at data for Girlfriends who aren't present. I added a failsafe for that that hopefully catches all cases of this error/crash. However, I've also been working on the koikoi minigame over the weekend since i was already rooting around in the code for it at the end of the week.

7/21 Koi koi updates

card pips now only flash when there are cards not claimed yet that can add points to the yaku. For example 5 ribbons will flash indicating that another ribbon will be worth more points, but 3 blue ribbons will not flash (on their own), since there is no 4th blue ribbon to upgrade. However, if the 3 blue ribbons have a 4th, then they will flash in preparation for the 5 ribbon yaku.

card pips now update for both players after each turn. with the previous change this means that having a yaku denied can now be 'seen' as the flashing pips will stop flashing showing that the yaku is no longer possible.

fixed up some of the dialogue triggers for characters, momiji will no longer do multiple win quotes after a hand that wins her a piece of clothing in strip koi koi. there are some new cases (stealing needed card, misdeals, and strip wins)

added 2 new (un)lucky hands; Teshi (4 of a kind in a starting hand) and Kuttsuki (4 pairs in a starting hand). These hands are awful and usually result in a massive disadvantage for the round, so instead it prompts a re-deal and 6 points to the owner of the (un)lucky hand. I tried 3 pairs for a bit but found it wasn't so rare to see, so i'm going with 4 for now.

a dealer tag appears next to the dealer for the turn (the player who goes first since the computer is technically always dealer)

girlfriends overall have a more confident gameplan because of the changes to yaku prediction, the pip data was what they referenced for what they thought was possible, and now that their info is better they like to play very greedy when they see they have an advantage.

fixed a bug with getting to exactly 50 score would prompt win quotes and then go to another round (a simple greater than _or equal to_ was missing)


original 7/18 update:

interesting build this week; work focused on the menus, koikoi, and fashion.

Menu art has been adjusted, and the layout has been changed. some menu options that were misbehaving have been fixed (like the resetting key/button remapping).

Debug menu now houses most of the effects that the numpad could do before, all numpad inputs removed.

Koi koi has more integration with character portraits and the dialogue feedback has been improved. Additionally, the card art has been updated for it.

Fashion has been replaced from the "shop" menu from before and is now a menu to equip from 'saved' gear and 'found' gear. Dressers in the world can be inspected to see the selection of palettes and accessories available in the location. Using the Menu Extra button, items can be saved to be used from the pause menu. Pressing left or right toggles to the partner character.

There were also some changes to targeting rules, suu now UI targets based on proximity, which also allows moves that are targeted, like hiyoko, to aim automatically. (relatedly, hiyoko forms aren't part of the fashion anymore, and can be found in debug)

Combat changes are mostly very minimal.

Also fixed some interactions with the event for getting "caught" by Gaji.
