This week's update got away from me, the changes are very minor compared to the previous version, but also in some ways massive.
So; enemy ai is reworked and the input buffer for players has been adjusted. Input buffer should be better at hanging on to inputs and allowing more reactive feedback for cancels. Enemy ai is more sophisticated but is VERY Work-In-Progress.
Input buffer change-
Cancel, Parry Cancel, Burst, and Heat Burst are all now activateable during hitstop (but not during global freeze frames). This means that upon immediately hitting a move, you can cancel the hitstop on yourself with a cancel. This should make the timing for Red Cancels (which are accessible for a short duration after striking) to be a lot more responsive. Similarly this applies to burst, which should require less mashing to come out when needed.
Enemy AI change-
Enemy ai has been combined into one central function that "plays" the opponent character. Previously enemies would change their ai routine based on their version (color), but now it is their movelist that changes between them. They then use the given moves in ways that make contextual sense for them.
The ai shifts between a few smaller routines where they go through a set of actions to achieve a short term goal. A few example states they have right now are [Wait in place and zone with pokes], [Throw a projectile and move in], [Run and and attack], [Run in and only grab], [Jump forward and attack without aiming], and [Time attack to hit when player is in get-up from a knockdown].
Currently there is very little -adjusting- to the pace on this, so all enemies are operating at full speed and capacity when possible. This makes group encounters very overwhelming currently.
At the same time, though, the enemies will take bolder actions. Many of these actions can be mistakes that you can take advantage of.
This was a big week of churn and i haven't been able to test everything or iron everything out, so this version may be very very messy. Progress picked up at the end of the week, some of that roughness should be smoothed over
