blade sight WIP 2023/11/04 update notes


New portraits!

the main thing i've worked on this week had been portraits for the characters. there were some changes to enemy ai, specifically with minion leashing, and more of the enemies in some of the rooms have had their minions reactivated.

Some of the dialogue interactions are different, but the portrait update took up most of the week.

That said! there is a new mechanic; Mikiri/Bladesight - a passive effect that can be gained which puts the text Mikiri under Suu's health bar. While active, all cards will be revealed, until all the charges have been used up from breaking cards. In order for Mikiri to activate, Suu needs to undergo an extreme sensation. Deathburst grants 1 charge of Mikiri, and letting your girlfriend kill you grants you 4 (but costs a life to die). Of the 3 girlfriends with support actions (Momiji, Matsu, and Gaji), only 2 can provide this for Suu. Matsu will not do it, and Momiji will do it only if you have a surplus of lives. Gaji, though

anyways, next week i'll try and get some more of the combat stuff cleaned up, i'd like to build out some of the movesets on the characters a little more, the witches, gaji, and matsu still need some moves, and a few other characters could get some more tools to work with. enemy ai also has a few outstanding tasks on them, such as locking down their movement, custom leash ranges, and getting a better handle for 'easier' enemies.

got a bug report for you! happened when i was dashing away in midair from an exploding skull enemy. I believe it counted as a parry.
