blade sight WIP 2023/11/10 update notes
lots of assorted little changes this week: some of the week was on further upgrades to my dialogue script, a lot of the cgs have more/better synced animation on them now. various bug fixes. Enemy AI should be a little more patient/slow paced, and some enemies (red samurai) now play 'passively', waiting to take their turn after yours.
Three very large changes, however:
1 - Girlfriend attack has been upgraded. Girlfriends carry the momentum of their caller on attack (this will probably have some issues, i haven't gotten to test it out a lot yet), and the attack level for the Girlfriend attack is raised. There won't be any noticeable change for momiji, but for characters like Matsu, her borrowed 5H can be used after Suu's 5H.
2 - Curse Score - item drops from enemies have undergone a first pass change. All point items are worth 1% of a curse level. There is considerably more points handed out on enemy kills. After reaching a high enough level of cursescore, the curse level advances. Curse level is lowered when using a continue, and affects how strong the card defense on enemies is, but grants a higher multiplier on normal score. Additionally, most enemies drop an extra life piece, but some sources of healing have been removed.
3 - Throw tech - the window for escaping a throw has been made more generous. the exact window changes based on difficulty level. it requires just a press of the Heavy attack button.
4 - Area Shock - After a throw tech or a card break, a hitbox is generated at the area that shocks all enemies nearby, sharing the hit effect across characters. For throw techs, all characters in the area are put into a stagger, allowing throws to be used to hand groups of enemies getting to close, even if it gets teched. For card breaks, it shares the hit across the group, allowing for enemies who stack up to 'share' their cards, allowing for openings to be made against clusters. Note that since the knockback type of the move is shared for card shocks, this means that a layer break will guard-stagger the enemies caught in the shock. This in my testing so far has greatly helped with the texture and ease of group encounters.
There isn't much new content this week aside from some of the dialogue changes with the girlfriend system. Momiji and Matsu should be less eager to dress Suu up, and the event shows up as one of the dialogue options instead. Some portraits have been updated/adjusted. Gaji is now recruitable in a standard way after defeating the doll patio encounter. The Miko at the shrine can be asked to send Suu back to the intro event. There are options under the debug section to delete temporary progress (anything that is reset by using the shrine, this is most interactions and enemy kills) and permanent progress (anything that persists between runs, these are rare).
